Insperity PEO review: pricing, payroll and contract terms
We may earn a commission when you sign up through some links on this page. Commissions never change our scores or the order of our lists. How we make money.
Insperity does not publish prices; its pricing page says your bill is direct cost allocations (payroll taxes, workers' comp, benefits access and liability coverage) plus a fixed-dollar HR service charge per employee that "won't increase if you pay your employees more" (checked October 16, 2026). New HR360 clients can get a credit of up to $425 per full-time employee. Minimums, contract length and exit terms are not public.
Insperity is a professional employer organization (PEO) that co-employs your staff and bundles payroll, benefits, workers' comp and HR service for a quoted fixed fee per employee plus pass-through costs.

Insperity sells by quote, like most large PEOs. What sets its pricing apart is the structure: a flat dollar HR service charge per employee rather than a percentage of payroll. If you pay well or plan big raises, that model can matter more than the headline rate.

Source: Insperity pricing page, Insperity homepage and Insperity referral program page, checked Oct 16, 2026. Insperity does not publish what separates each tier.
Insperity's pricing page describes the bill as two parts:
- Direct cost allocations: payroll taxes, workers' comp, benefits access and liability coverage.
- An HR service charge: a fixed dollar amount per employee that "won't increase if you pay your employees more".
Third-party figures: Fit Small Business (updated May 16, 2025, more than a year old) cites unverified user reports of $50 to $100 a month plus $5 to $10 per employee per month and a 5-employee minimum. Insperity has not confirmed them, and we treat them as low confidence. Forbes Advisor's 2026 list shows "$150/user" for Insperity, labeled "custom quote", with no date or source.
Fixed fee vs percent of payroll: what it means for 5, 10 and 25 employees
ADP's own PEO cost guide (updated July 14, 2026) puts industry admin fees at 2% to 12% of total payroll, or about $40 to $160 per employee per month. Here is why a fixed fee like Insperity's can come out ahead for a well-paid team. The table assumes everyone earns $50,000:
| Team size | Total payroll | Fee at 2% | Fee at 12% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 employees | $250,000 | $5,000 a year | $30,000 a year |
| 10 employees | $500,000 | $10,000 a year | $60,000 a year |
| 25 employees | $1,250,000 | $25,000 a year | $150,000 a year |
Source: ADP, PEO cost article (industry range, not an Insperity or ADP quote), updated Jul 14, 2026, checked Oct 16, 2026.
Under a percentage model, a 10% raise across the team raises the admin fee 10% too. Under Insperity's fixed charge, it does not. Ask Insperity to quote the HR service charge as a dollar figure per employee per month so you can compare it with Justworks' posted $79 to $124.
On top of the service charge, you still pay employer taxes at cost: 7.65% Social Security and Medicare on wages (Social Security up to the $184,500 wage base for 2026), net FUTA of 0.6% on the first $7,000 per employee ($42 each), and state unemployment tax at your state's rate (SUTA rates for 2026). For a 10-person, $500,000 payroll, the FICA line alone is 7.65% x $500,000 = $38,250 a year. See PEO cost per employee for how these lines appear on an invoice.
What the Insperity fee includes and leaves out
The direct cost allocations cover payroll taxes, workers' comp, benefits access and liability coverage, so these flow through one bill. What we could not find published:
- The cost of the health plans themselves. Premiums depend on the plan, your team's ages and your state.
- A setup fee, contract term or minimum headcount.
- A tax filing guarantee that says who pays penalties if a filing is wrong.
- Terms of the HR360 credit beyond "up to $425 per full-time employee" for new clients.
Because workers' comp is folded into direct cost allocations, ask for the workers' comp rate per $100 of payroll for each job class as its own line. That is the only way to compare it with a standalone policy (see what workers' comp costs).

When you leave Insperity, the same four things change as with any PEO: your health plans end with the co-employment, the 401(k) has to move to a new plan, your state unemployment account may need reopening, and Insperity, as a CPEO, is treated as the employer for the wages it paid, so expect its W-2s for that part of the year. A January 2023 Trustpilot reviewer summed up their exit as "we fired them" (Trustpilot). Get the termination clause and the record-access period in writing before you sign. The full checklist is on how to leave a PEO without losing benefits.
CPEO status, states and company size
Certified PEO: yes. The IRS active CPEO list (report date 8/7/2026) includes Insperity PEO HR, Inc. and Insperity PEO Services, L.P. Insperity's site pages we read do not mention it. Check that your contract names one of these exact entities; the IRS warns that CPEO names look alike. More in our certified PEO directory.
States: not stated on the pages we read. Multi-state payroll is the main complaint in recent reviews (below), so ask how Insperity registers and reports in each state where you have people.
Size: no published minimum or maximum. Insperity also sells options for larger businesses.
Support
Insperity's contact page lists customer service at 1-866-715-3552, with call hours of 7am to 7pm Central time, Monday to Friday, plus an online message portal. Some review sites list Insperity as having 24/7 phone support; Insperity's own page shows weekday hours, so go by that.
What Insperity customers complain about
Insperity has few public reviews: Trustpilot shows 2.6 out of 5 from 10 reviews and G2 shows 4.3 out of 5 from 431 reviews (both seen October 16, 2026). With so few Trustpilot reviews, treat patterns as signals, not proof.
| Complaint | How often | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-state payroll wrong for months | Several (few reviews) | Trustpilot, Sep 3, 2026: the reviewer says not one payroll run had been correct |
| Slow support | Several (few reviews) | Trustpilot, Aug 6, 2025 |
| Customer left after service problems | Once | Trustpilot, Jan 19, 2023 |

Who Insperity fits, and who should look elsewhere
What works
- Teams with high or rising salaries, because the HR service charge is fixed per employee.

- New clients who can use the HR360 credit of up to $425 per full-time employee.
Watch out for
- You need help outside 7am to 7pm Central on weekdays.
- You have people in many states and cannot risk months of payroll fixes.
- You want posted prices: Justworks posts its PEO fee.
- You only need payroll and a benefits broker: see PEO vs payroll service.
Compare: Insperity vs TriNet, the ADP TotalSource review and the Paychex PEO review. Start from the PEO overview if you are still deciding whether you need one.
