Remote EOR review: pricing, contract terms and what its country pages get wrong

Remote's employer of record (EOR) service costs from $599 per employee per month, according to its pricing page (checked October 16, 2026), but a Remote help article updated March 11, 2026 puts the standard fee at $699. Contractors start at $29 a month, global payroll at $29 per employee and the US PEO at $99.

Remote says every one of its 90+ EOR countries runs on its own entity. Its default terms run 12 months, renew automatically, and raise the price at least 8% on renewal.

Remote is a global employment platform that hires workers abroad through its own local entities as an employer of record, and also sells contractor management, global payroll and a US PEO.

Remote

Remote publishes its full terms of service and order form terms, claims owned entities in every EOR country, and prices its contractor ($29) and US PEO (from $99) tiers below Deel’s ($49 and $125). It loses points for two different EOR prices on its own site, 12-month auto-renewing defaults with a renewal uplift, and wrong employer cost data on several country pages.

Remote's EOR fee is the charge for employing one person through Remote's local entity. Salary, employer social contributions, benefits and any severance are passed through at cost on the same invoice. The question for buyers is which EOR price applies: the pricing page says "from $599", while a Remote help article updated March 11, 2026 says the standard management fee is 699 USD per employee per month. A third-party comparison site, EOR Overview (updated July 18, 2026), also lists Remote at $699. Ask for the figure on your order form before you compare it with Deel at $599.

Contractors are where Remote is cheapest: $29 a month and billed only in months a contractor is active, against Deel's $49. For the indemnity tier and how it compares, see contractor payment platforms.

What Remote EOR costs for a team

25 employees$14,975 a month$17,475 a month$12,728.75 a month

Source: Remote pricing page and help article, checked October 16, 2026. Startup rate is $599 x 0.85 = $509.15, for 12 months, for companies in Remote's startup program. Fees only; salary and employer taxes are billed on top.

The gap between the two published prices is $100 per employee per month, or $30,000 a year on a 25-person team ($100 x 25 x 12). Startups in Remote's program get "No deposit or setup fees" and 15% off EOR and Contractor Management for 12 months.

Renewal matters as much as the starting price. Remote's order form terms raise fees on renewal by the greater of 8% or the prior year's US CPI. At 8%, $599 becomes $646.92 ($599 x 1.08) in year two.

Contract terms, deposits and FX

Minimum term and auto-renewal

Remote's terms of service (last updated Aug 3, 2026) say the terms run for a 12-month initial term and renew for further 12-month periods (clause 7.1). You can end them on at least 30 days' written notice (7.2), but Payroll Services need 90 days. The order form terms add that an order form renews for 12 months unless you give notice 30 days before the term ends, that fees are non-refundable, and that an early exit owes the shortfall against the Minimum Contract Value, or on a Price Lock deal, 50% of the monthly average estimated annual fees. Remote's onboarding handbook also describes a pay-as-you-go, month-to-month plan, so ask which one you are signing.

Deposit

The pricing page FAQ asks "Do you require deposits or accruals?" but our research could not open the answer. The terms of service (2.6) say Remote "may require You to pay a reserve or provide a standby letter of credit", with no amount. Startups in the program pay no deposit. Everyone else should ask.

Currency conversion

Remote bills using its "Remote FX Rate", which it says varies with transaction volume, currency volatility and conversion cost. The terms (2.4) add: "where foreign exchange applies, We may also apply a transaction fee or margin." No percentage is published.

Late payment and termination

Late invoices carry interest of 0.1% per day under Remote’s terms. Remote lists no offboarding fee; severance and notice pay are employment costs you pay at cost.

Put a calendar reminder 45 days before your renewal date. Miss the 30-day notice window and you are in for another 12 months at a price at least 8% higher.

Entity model: "100% owned entities"

Remote's EOR page says "100% owned entities, no third parties" and "Employer of Record in 90+ countries". That is the strongest and most consistent ownership claim among the major platforms: the country count is lower than Deel's or Oyster's, but Remote uses the same figure everywhere we looked. With an owned entity there is no local partner in the chain when payroll or a termination goes wrong. If you need a country outside the 90+, Remote cannot employ there, so check its country list first. For how the models differ, see what an employer of record does.

Data errors on Remote's country pages

Remote's country explorer pages appeared in our search results for "employer of record India" and "employer of record Brazil". As read on October 16, 2026, several show employer contributions as zero:

  • India: the tax table shows employer cost 0% and Provident Fund 0.00%, and health insurance 0% while calling it mandatory. Employer EPF is 12% of wages up to the Rs 25,000 monthly ceiling (Rs 3,000 a month at the cap: 12% x 25,000), plus EDLI 0.5%, plus ESIC 3.25% for employees earning up to Rs 21,000 a month. On our INR 3,800,000 sample salary, that comes to 3.4% of pay with gratuity accrual. See our India employer cost page.
  • Brazil: employer cost 0.00%, INSS 0.0% and FGTS 0.0%, while the same page's severance section says FGTS is 8%. It shows the 2025 minimum wage of R$ 1,518; the 2026 figure is R$ 1,621. See our Brazil employer cost page.
  • Netherlands and Philippines: the Netherlands page shows every employer premium as 0.00%, and the Philippines page omits the SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG caps. See Netherlands and Philippines.

These look like placeholder or rendering problems on content pages, not billing errors: Remote invoices actual statutory costs. But a buyer budgeting from those pages would understate the cost of a Brazil hire by about half of salary. Here is the real stack:

Support

Remote's EOR page promises onboarding with a dedicated specialist and in-house staff for ongoing support. The pricing page makes no 24/7 claim, unlike Deel. If your hires sit in time zones far from yours, ask for support hours in writing.

Reviews and complaints

Remote holds 4.5 out of 5 from 5,296 reviews on G2 and 4.6 from 3,502 reviews on Trustpilot, 923 of them in the last 12 months (both seen Oct 16, 2026; 83% five-star, 5% one-star on Trustpilot). Visible recent reviews praise on-time pay ("Always Payed on time").

We could not see Remote's low-star reviews: the filter was blocked, and none appeared on the first page. Trustpilot's own AI summary mentions slow support, recurring payroll errors and hard-to-resolve financial issues, but we could not tie those to dated reviews. So we do not claim Remote draws fewer complaints than Deel or Oyster; we only know the 5% one-star share matches Deel's.

What works

  • Terms of service and order form terms are both public
  • "100% owned entities, no third parties" in 90+ countries, stated consistently
  • Contractor tier at $29 (tied with Oyster, below Deel’s $49), billed only for active contractors
  • Startup program: no deposit, 15% off for 12 months

Watch out for

  • $599 on the pricing page, $699 in a help article
  • 12-month auto-renewal with an uplift of at least 8%
  • Early exit owes the Minimum Contract Value shortfall
  • Zero employer cost shown on its India and Brazil country pages

Who Remote fits, and the alternatives

Remote fits a company that wants to know who employs its people (an owned entity, not a partner), likes reading terms before signing, and is hiring in one of Remote's 90+ EOR countries. It also suits startups, which get no deposit and 15% off.

Look elsewhere if you need a country Remote does not cover, if you want month-to-month without negotiating, or if price is the main test:

  • Deel covers more countries (100+ to 150+ by its own pages) at $599, with a wider product range.
  • Multiplier lists $459 billed annually and also claims owned entities.
  • Pebl lists $399 with about 90% of employees on its own entities.
  • Oyster has no minimum term, at $699.

Our verdict

Bottom line: Remote scores 62/100. It is one of the most open of the large EORs about how it employs people and what its contract says. Read that contract closely: confirm whether you pay $599 or $699, whether you are on the 12-month auto-renewing term or pay-as-you-go, and put the renewal date in your calendar. Do not budget from its country pages. Only Multiplier and Oyster score higher.
