What ExtensisHR promises on support

Speed is the headline. ExtensisHR says phone calls are answered within 15 seconds and live chats within 30 seconds, at (888) 473-6398. The only other provider in our research that puts a number of seconds on answering is Rippling, which says it answers in less than 30 seconds. On our scale it scores 4 of 10 for support: points for phone and chat, none for hours, because it does not publish them.

Treat the numbers as claims to test, not terms. Ask whether they hold after hours and on every plan, and who picks up: a named HR contact who knows your account or a general team. A fast answer is worth less if the person cannot fix a payroll error. If the response times matter to you, ask for them in the service agreement.

The "IRS-accredited" badge and what it means

ExtensisHR's site shows an "IRS-accredited" badge. The IRS term is "certified": its program certifies PEOs under Internal Revenue Code 7705, and the IRS pages we read do not describe certification as an endorsement. The underlying fact checks out. Extensis Inc. and five related entities are on the IRS active CPEO list dated August 7, 2026.

Certification puts the PEO, not you, in the employer seat for federal employment taxes on wages it pays (26 USC 3511), and keeps Social Security and FUTA wage bases from restarting if you join or leave mid-year. With six Extensis entities on the list, ask which one signs your contract and check its exact name and EIN.

What Extensis PEO might cost

ExtensisHR posts no fee and we found no third-party estimate for it. Its segments start at 10 employees, so the table below uses 10, 25 and 100. The benchmarks come from ADP's PEO cost guide (updated July 14, 2026: about $40 to $160 per employee per month, or 2% to 12% of payroll) and Justworks' posted PEO prices of $79 and $124 (checked October 16, 2026).

Monthly PEO admin fee benchmarks at ExtensisHR's smallest segment sizes (not ExtensisHR prices)
EmployeesAt $40At $79 (Justworks Basic)At $124 (Justworks Plus)At $160
10$400$790$1,240$1,600
25$1,000$1,975$3,100$4,000
100$4,000$7,900$12,400$16,000

Team sizes chosen to match ExtensisHR's published segments. Monthly cost is headcount times rate; rates from ADP and Justworks, Oct 2026.

At 100 employees, the gap between the low and high benchmark is $12,000 a month, so the fee basis is worth pinning down early. Premiums, workers' comp and payroll taxes come on top; our PEO pricing guide and employee cost calculator help you total them.

Benefits and workers' comp

We found no benefit plans, carriers or 401(k) details on ExtensisHR's pages, so it scores 0 of 20 for benefits access. Ask which carriers it offers in your states and how renewals have moved for clients your size. Reviewers of other PEOs report renewal jumps of 8% and 18% (ADP TotalSource, Capterra), so two years of renewal history is a fair request.

The workers' comp model is not published. Ask whether you would join a master policy and what your rate per $100 of payroll would be for each class code.

Who ExtensisHR may suit, and alternatives

ExtensisHR fits a company of roughly 10 to 100 or more employees that values fast phone and chat response and wants a certified PEO. Under 10 employees, confirm it will take you first. For more published detail, compare:

  • Justworks (67): prices on its site, no setup fee.
  • TriNet (50): 24/7 chat in its platform and phone hours of 6am to midnight ET on weekdays.
  • ADP TotalSource (44): workers' comp inside the service fee.
  • Paychex PEO (34): a relationship manager for clients with 200 or more employees.
  • Insperity (33): per-employee charge that does not rise with wages.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Extensis PEO cost?
ExtensisHR does not publish prices, setup fees or contract terms (checked October 16, 2026). For 100 employees, ADP's industry range of $40 to $160 per employee per month works out to $4,000 to $16,000 a month in fees alone; treat that as a benchmark, not an ExtensisHR quote.
Is ExtensisHR a certified PEO?
Yes. Extensis Inc. and five related entities are on the IRS active CPEO list dated August 7, 2026. The site's "IRS-accredited" badge uses a different word; the IRS calls these PEOs certified. Check which entity signs your contract.
How fast does ExtensisHR answer support calls?
ExtensisHR says "Phone calls are answered within 15 seconds" and "Live chats are answered within 30 seconds" (checked October 16, 2026). It does not publish support hours, so ask whether those times apply around the clock.
What size company does ExtensisHR work with?
ExtensisHR publishes two segments: "10-100 Employees" and "101+" (checked October 16, 2026). It states no formal minimum, so a smaller company should ask before requesting a quote.
What do ExtensisHR reviews say?
G2 shows 4.6 out of 5 from 88 reviews and Trustpilot shows no reviews (seen October 16, 2026). We did not research complaint themes for ExtensisHR, so read recent G2 reviews and ask for references.
